NEWS!!

HEY!
Well, we’re finally back up online after being down for the last couple of months due to our crappy old hosting, but that’s now all sorted and we’ve moved to a nice new home that’s all warm and fuzzy and will look after us well.
And we have news for you!
The lovely people at Ziggurat Creative who put out our debut 7”, Snakes with Wings, last September, have now decided that they’d like to release our next single, which will be Treehouse. Initially available on CD and download, but hopefully on 10” vinyl later (the Ziggurat Boys are investigating...) Treehouse will be released at our launch gig on the 22nd of June at Norwich Arts Centre where we will be supporting the fantastic Yeti Lane for Wombat Wombat. Tickets for this gig are available from us or Norwich Arts Centre, and are £7 adv. or £9 on the door.
We are also running a remix competition for the B-Side of the Treehouse single, so if you’d like a crack, please drop us an email to contact@collider.org.uk or visit our facebook page and leave us a message. We’ll then send you a link to the stems. The competition is open until the 25th of May, at which point we’ll be judging the entries. The winner will be on the CD and download (and 10” as and when it emerges), but we will also gradually post up the other entries for you to listen to.
You can have a listen to the preview of Treehouse here: Collider Treehouse Preview
We’ve a number of other gigs coming up too, and more to be confirmed, but here’s the current list:
Saturday Mat 26th, B2, Norwich
Friday, June 22nd, Norwich Arts Centre (SINGLE LAUNCH!)
Saturday, July 28th, The Bull, Colchester
Saturday, November 24th, The Bull, Colchester
Finally, the ever lovely Marc Paterson, who previously made the video for our song Ghosts, has created another one for us, this time for Snakes with Wings. Take a look at it here:
Think that’s the lot for now - hope to see you at a gig very soon.

Happy (belated) New Year!
Things have been a little quiet over the last month or so, but we did record and release a special Christmas cover featuring the ever lovely Mr Jason Dixon - Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth which went down exceptionally well! It’s down now, but will be back up again next Christmas, hopefully alongside another festive offering. We shall see...
In other news, our first London gig of 2012 is booked for Saturday the 25th of February at The Comedy Pub, SW1. Details and the facebook event are here: https://www.facebook.com/events/307597479282362/
We’re also still helping trying to fight the UEA’s short sighted and underhand decision to close down it’s nationally and internationally renowned School of Music, so please join the facebook group for that for updates and to show your support. https://www.facebook.com/SaveUEAMusic We’d also encourage you to write to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Edward Acton, and express your disgust at what seems to have ultimately been his decision since there has been no vote at either University Senate or Council, where the plans were ratified. You can get in touch by emailing him here: e.acton@uea.ac.uk
For all documents pertaining to the closure, please head to www.saveueamusic.org
Hopefully we’ll have some more news soon, but until then, please head over to our soundcloud account to enjoy some Collider songs!

2011 News:
On the 26th October, 2011, the Vice Chancellor of the University of East Anglia, UK, announced the findings of a secretly-held, internal and non-specialist review: that the University should “not to invest further” in creative musical education. The review neither involved nor informed the School. Its authors assert, for support, that their review is based on an external, subject-specialist review from 2002. Subsequently, the authors of the 2002 review have commented that references to their review are deliberately “selective” and “misleading”, and that, in their opinion, the “new review follows a familiar model where a department is set up to fail”, and that “the misuse of our report” is “very irritating”. Over 8000 senior academics, noted musicians and composers, parents, students and local residents have signed the petition and spoken out against the proposal. The decision to accept or reject the findings will be taken on the 28th November.
Click the logo above to sign the petition and read documents pertaining to this appalling decision.

Here’s a little poster for our upcoming Norwich Arts Centre gig in support of The Matthew Project
151011
We’ve got a couple of gigs coming up in November which it’d be lovely to see you at.
The first, on the 8th of November, is at Norwich Arts Centre where we will be playing a gig for The Matthew Project, an excellent charity who, in their words, are “a value driven charity based in Norfolk working in innovative ways with adults, young people and communities affected by drugs and alcohol. [They] provide dynamic drug education to young people helping them to understand the risks of drugs and alcohol.” This should be a brilliant gig, and you can find more info and book tickets here: http://norwichartscentre.co.uk/matthew-who/
Secondly, we’ll be heading down to that London on the 11th of November to play at Carnivale. We’ve just discovered that the venue will very sadly be closing its doors for the last time on the 13th of November, so come along and join us to give the place a proper send off! More details of the gig here.
Hope to see you at one of the gigs!

Well, all of the special edition 7”s sold out a couple of weeks ago, but that doesn’t stop you getting your hands on the regular version of the record, which you can still get over at the shop. We also now have badges available, which you can buy separately or get for free if you buy said record or a ticket to our headline gig at the Norwich Puppet Theatre on the 24th of September. They look like this:
We have also had some very lovely words written about us, which you can read here:

We were also on the radio just over a week ago, chatting to Sophie from BBC Norfolk Introducing. We had a lovely time, and you can listen to it again over on our press page.
And last, but by no means least, the amazing Says Simon has remixed our single, Snakes with Wings, and he’s done another excellent job! Head across to the audio page to have a listen!
That’s all for now, hope to see you on the 24th!

I’ve never been very good at keeping news sections of websites up to date, but here’s some for you.
The lovely folk at Ziggurat Creative kindly sent us a copy of the test pressing of the single which we picked up 2 days ago and it sounds awesome! And now it would seem that the proper pressings have landed in London Town! Hopefully we should have some pics etc soon, but until then, please enjoy a look at the amazing screen print that Jo Stafford has created for us which will be in 25 special copies of the record.
